“Tribute to Peace” Jazz performance is saxophonist Nestor Zurita’s modern interpretation of the sounds of La Convivencia. Zurita was born in New York and grew up in Quito, Ecuador, raised by his Cuban mom. He has studied and performed in Miami, New York, Belgium, France, Italy and throughout Central and South America.
With the creation of his Miami organization “Music Without Borders,” Zurita expanded his circle of musician friends to include performers from the Middle East, Eastern Europe, the Jewish community, and grassroots America. This concert includes Paul Banman on piano, Agustin Conti on bass, and Jimmy Daniel on drums.
This concert will include Zurita’s original music with Middle Eastern and La Convivencia themes and titles such as: The Veil, Roshana’s Dance, The Nile, Iran, Under the Olive Tree, and Lebanon.
The performance will be held on the beautiful new lakeside patio at the St. Johns on the Lake, 4760 Pine Tree Dr., Miami Beach 33140. This early evening concert starts at 4 pm so that attendees can enjoy the sunset on Lake Surprise.
