Nestor Zurita Quintet Live at St. Johns
Saturday, February 13, 7pm
“For this concert I’ve put together a set of musical pieces that have been influenced by my Cuban and Ecuadorian heritage. Many of the tunes are dedicated to the struggle that immigrants have to go through when coming to our country.
Throughout my life I grew up listening to many stories specially on my mother’s Cuban side and how they were forced to leave everything behind to find freedom here in the United States.
On my father’s side (Ecuador), he also had to endure a lot of hard work after migrating to the US. It’s thanks to his struggle that I live a comfortable life today. That is why I put together this set of musical pieces to honor my heritage and to thank all the sacrifices that my parents and grandparents did in order for me to be able to dedicate my life to music.”
The program will include works like: Suite Andina, Waltz for Cuba, Light at the End of the Tunnel, and The Edge.
